About

Roddy Clenaghan was born just outside Nairobi, Kenya, where his Scottish parents had a farm. The family moved back to Scotland when he was just one year old and he grew up near Dumfries in the Scottish Borders.

Following a short spell at Art College in Dundee, he moved through to Edinburgh, where he graduated with a Degree in Interior Design, and then to Buckinghamshire, England, where he had a long and successful career in the Exhibition and Graphic Design industries.

Strong creativity is fundamental to Roddy's entire existence, whether he's painting, drawing, cooking, gardening or making music.

Now retired from full-time work in commercial design, Roddy spends much of his time doing what he enjoys most: making art, playing music, enjoying the company of friends, and relaxing in and around Bute, the Scottish island he has now made his home. He can often be seen guiding tourists around the historic town of Rothesay – when he's not appearing in the community pantomime!

Roddy's paintings – mainly seascapes painted in oils – are highly regarded and sell quickly, as do his wonderful and extremely lifelike pet portrait drawings.

He has also been a semi-professional musician for most of his adult life – singing and playing contemporary and traditional ballads from around the world.
